Blog > Breckenridge Snow Sculptures Celebrates 30 Years!
This Monday, January 20th, marks the 30th anniversary of the Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships! Sixteen teams of snow artists from around the globe are gathering this week in one of our favorite Colorado mountain towns. Their objective: to hand-carve 20-ton blocks of snow into magnificent works of art! During this FREE event, onlookers can watch over the course of 5 days as artists carve sixteen massive sculptures, using only their hands & creative inspiration – no power tools allowed!

All week, while artists are sculpting, visitors can hang out in the FirstBank Warming Hut Exhibit, attend a viewing of the documentary “Ski Bum – The Warren Miller Story”, and cast votes for their favorite sculptures!

When: Artists begin sculpting Monday 1/20 at 11am through Friday morning on 1/24, with judging and an award ceremonies starting Friday 1/24 at 9am.
Where: Exterior of Riverwalk Center, located at 150 W. Adams Avenue
Teams: The international competitors hail from Alaska, Argentina, Breckenridge, China, Ecuador, France, Germany, the U.K., India, Mexico, Minnesota, Mongolia, Switzerland, Turkey, Wisconsin, and Vermont.
Sculptures will be up through January 29th. Plan a trip to Breckenridge during that time and catch a piece of the action! Send us your best Instagram-ready captures and we’ll feature them on our social pages, and if you haven’t already followed us on social media, give us a like at @ArtOfHomeTeam!
Happy Winter!
